Airport Tips & Quick Reference Guide to Larnaca International Airport – Glafcos Clerides (LCA)

Larnaca Airport Terminal

Information compiled by David Enrich, aviation and airport guide expert since 1999.

Larnaca International Airport (LCA) is the main international gateway to Cyprus and one of the busiest airports in the Eastern Mediterranean. Located just 8 km south of Larnaca city, it plays a key role in connecting the island with major European and Middle Eastern destinations. The airport’s modern development began in the 1970s, following the closure of Nicosia Airport, and it has since grown significantly to accommodate increasing passenger traffic, particularly driven by tourism.

The current terminal, inaugurated in 2009, replaced older facilities and marked a major step forward in capacity, efficiency and passenger comfort. Designed with inspiration from Cyprus’s historical architecture, including Roman aqueduct elements, the terminal offers a bright, spacious and contemporary environment.

Larnaca Airport operates with a single terminal building, which simplifies navigation and ensures a smooth passenger experience. The terminal is organized across several levels, with arrivals on the ground floor and departures on the upper levels. Clear signage, compact distances and logical layout make it easy for travellers to move from check-in to security and boarding gates without stress.

Despite its relatively compact size, the airport offers a full range of services, including shopping areas, dining options, lounges and transport connections. Its efficient design, combined with modern facilities and a relaxed atmosphere, makes Larnaca Airport a convenient and user-friendly hub for both leisure and business travellers visiting Cyprus.

Services

Larnaca Airport provides a wide range of services to enhance the passenger experience. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal, while ATMs and currency exchange counters cover financial needs. Families benefit from baby changing and breastfeeding rooms, while passengers with reduced mobility have access to dedicated parking, assistance services and adapted facilities. Luggage services include wrapping and support options, and major car rental companies such as Avis, Europcar and Sixt are located in the Arrivals hall.

-Notify your airline at least 48 hours in advance if you require special assistance to ensure smooth coordination at the airport.

-Keep some cash for small purchases, although most places accept cards.

Shops and Dining

The terminal features a selection of duty-free shops offering cosmetics, electronics and local products such as halloumi cheese, wine and olive oil. Dining options include cafés like Costa Coffee and Segafredo, fast food outlets such as Burger King and restaurants serving both international and Cypriot cuisine.

-Prices inside the airport are higher than in the city — consider eating before arriving if you are on a budget.

-Try local snacks or products as last-minute souvenirs — Cyprus specialties are widely available.

VIP Lounges

Travellers looking for comfort can access several lounges. The Aspire Aphrodite Lounge operates 24/7 and offers snacks, drinks, showers and relaxation areas. The Aegean Business Lounge provides a quieter atmosphere with business facilities and buffet service.

Booking lounge access in advance is recommended during peak summer months.
